At a glance
- Your Flex token and query work. The Activity Flex Query lacks a section Foliograph needs though.
- You add the section in the IBKR portal to the same query. Token and query ID stay the same.
- Then click Verify in Foliograph under Settings > Connections. The message disappears right away.
Why Foliograph needs the sections
Foliograph reads more than the trades from the Activity Flex Query. The other sections make sure trades are put together and closed correctly. The message names the technical name from the IBKR response:
| Name in the message | Section in the IBKR portal | What Foliograph uses it for |
|---|---|---|
| Trades | Trades | The executions themselves |
| CashTransactions | Cash Transactions | Deposits, withdrawals, dividends, interest |
| CorporateActions | Corporate Actions | Splits and symbol changes |
| SecuritiesInfo | Financial Instrument Information | Contract data such as multiplier and expiry |
| OpenPositions | Open Positions | Matching the open positions |
| OptionEAE | Option Exercises, Assignments and Expirations | Exercise, assignment and expiry of options |
| Transfers | Transfers | Position transfers between accounts |
Without Transfers, a position you move to another account stays open as a trade in the old account. In the new account it shows up without an opening.
Adding the section
- In the IBKR portal open Performance & Reports > Flex Queries.
- Under Activity Flex Query, edit the query whose ID is entered in Foliograph under Settings > Connections. The portal shows the ID next to the query name.
- Click the missing section, choose Select All and Save.
- Finish editing at the bottom of the page and save the query. Only then does IBKR apply the change.
Easy to mix up: the list contains Incoming/Outgoing Trade Transfers and further down Transfers. These are two different sections. The message "missing sections: Transfers" refers to the second one. Best select both, as described in the setup.
Checking afterwards
- Settings > Connections, click Verify next to the Activity query. If it then shows "OK" with the number of trades, the query is complete and the message on the dashboard disappears.
- Or click Sync Trade History under Trade Sync. This checks the query too and imports the data of the new section right away.
Up to version 0.3.19 only Sync Trade History updated the message. The automatic Activity sync only ran there once Foliograph had been open for 24 hours in a row. Since 0.3.20 Verify updates the message as well and the sync catches up at launch when the last one is more than 20 hours old.
The message stays
| Cause | Fix |
|---|---|
| Section added to the Trade Confirmation query instead of the Activity query | The message in the "Activity Flex query" row refers to the Activity query. Add it there. |
| "Incoming/Outgoing Trade Transfers" selected instead of "Transfers" | Select Transfers as well. |
| Query not saved | Open the query again, check the section and finish editing until it is saved. |
| Foliograph has a different query ID than the one you edited | Compare the ID in the portal with the one under Settings > Connections. |
